I'm getting ready to build my Dan A4 SFX kit, pero not sure yet if I should go AMD this round with the Ryzen 3600X + Nvidia 2060 Super, or wait for the Intel 9700 non-k to come out. Concern ko mostly is yung cooling, and be good enough for overwatch, diablo 3, and minsan world of warcraft. Problema ko rin cooling fans.
I'd definitely get Noctua / Gentle Typhoon fans. 3600x is more than enough for Overwatch. (Using a 2600x/1070ti right now and more than enough na siya for 144hz 1080p OW). Havent tried playing Diablo or WoW though.
If you are aiming for high framerates (Overwatch) then a Core i7-9700K would be a decent choice and there are more Mini-ITX motherboards available for Intel / Z390 chipset. Not to mention better memory compatibility and no more guessing game on which memory sticks to buy. Yung problem lang is a highly clocked Core i7-9700K would run hotter than a Ryzen 5 3600X at stock speeds, and undervolting might be needed to manage CPU temps for very small cases like the Dan A4.
But if you don't plan to buy a high-end videocard soon like RTX 2080 and above, then I think the Ryzen 5 3600 or Ryzen 7 3700X would be a good choice. Mas manageable ang heat output nila at stock speeds but finding an AM4 CPU cooler to fit the Dan A4 will be a challenge. Not to mention, there are not many X570 Mini-ITX motherboards available.
My suggestion is assess your CPU cooling options first on the Dan A4, then choose which CPU can be best handled by that CPU cooler. I'm guessing you will be looking at the Noctua LH-9i or LH-9a as they are readily available locally. But if you are able to order more exotic heatsinks that will fit the Dan A4 then consider that as well.
thanks, siguro baka ito na nga lang i-setup ko, though I was really hoping to get the AMD setup since it's significantly cheaper rin. pero I think I will appreciate more yung stability nung intel chipsets (older, have gone through more fixes). and malamang rin mag-undervolt ako and downclock na rin (K naman).
For the GPU, siguro baka 2070 or 2080. and baka blower na lang rin.
Dumating na a few weeks back yung Asetek 645LT ko, umorder rin ako nung alpenfohn black ridge. honestly, i'm leaning more on using the air cooler. wala pa akong experience with water cooling, and ayoko na aalalahanin ko pa.
Agree, hindi ako masyado fan ng AIO watercooling. Hindi na siguro worry ang leaks but limited parin kasi ang lifespan niya and mag-degrade over time ang performance. Either air bubbles will form sa loop or masisira yung pump / CPU block dahil sa galvanic corrosion. I have yet to see an AIO watercooler last longer than 5 years at same parin performance.
For small Mini-ITX cases I would definitely stick to aircooling. BTW pogi ng Alpenföhn Black Ridge :-)

Ang tubing kasi ng AIO watercoolers hindi talaga 100% airtight and over time yung coolant mag evaporate and permeate through the tubing. But of course this will take months or years for a tiny amount to evaporate. Also ang manufacturers ng AIO hindi pinupuno ang loop ng 100% and leave a small air gap in case of increased pressure and expansion of coolant. Kung punong puno kasi ang loop any difference in pressure might burst a seal and cause a leak.
Yung problem with air bubbles can be solved if yung radiator is placed higher than the pump, so yung air bubbles hindi stuck sa pump and will float up to the radiator. Pero with Dan A4 yung radiator position mo is at the bottom, so yung pump is higher than the radiator. Over time I'm sure magkakaroon ng air bubbles na stuck sa pump.
Pero pag pumalya ba yung pump maririnig mo?
I don't know... tahimik din kasi ang pump at baka hindi mo marinig over the radiator fans or videocard fans. Pero delikado kapag nag fail ang pump or if it stops spinning completely. That is the time when leaks will most likely happen kasi yung coolant is heated to high temps (well above 60C) and yung pressure can burst through a seal. If hindi naman siya mag cause ng leak, yung galvanic corrosion process is accelerated dahil din sa higher temps. Rule of thumb sa AIO watercooling is keep your coolant temps as low as possible.
Chances are kapag mag pump failure, mas una mag-shutdown ang CPU or mag throttle siya immediately.
I'm assuming na mas quiet sya vs air cooling?
Potentially mas madami sources of noise ang AIO watercooling kasi you have:
1. A pump that is constantly running at high RPM
2. A fan that is blowing air against a tight finned radiator
Kung may air bubbles sa loop, definitely maingay ang pump and you will hear a buzzing sound parang sa aquarium tank. But if wala naman air bubbles, tahimik naman ang pump and you will just hear a low frequency hum.
Ang AIO watercooler can be made very quiet, kailangan lang walang air bubbles and yung radiator fan is running at lower RPM or use a very quiet fan like Noctua / Scythe GT. Pero against a Noctua CPU air cooler... that might be hard to beat noise-wise :-)
