Good budget open-back cans for multimedia/gaming?

Was wondering kung anong magandang di masakit sa bulsa open-back headphones for multimedia/gaming sa PC/PS4/Switch/etc.?

Siguro kung kakayanin, 8k max. Nakikita ko ung Philips SHP9500 o AT-AD700x ung madalas recommended. Kung kaya din, kasama na din amp/dac sa budget. TY!

Just found this list from Drop, not sure kung accurate yung info sa loob. Range goes up to around Php10k. Problema lang rin siguro is availability locally.

Pag open back ba, kelangan rin mas malakas amp? High impedance ba sila? Iba rin ba 'to sa planar headphones?

Halos lahat ng mga headphones sa listihan dynamic. Yung HE4XX , HE400i, TX-0 at TX-0 II planar magnetic. Yung impedance (in ohms) depende sa headphones, may mababa, may mataas.

The 58X Jubilee is a good value for gaming and music, for me, it superseded the Fidelio X2 and SHP9500.

Ang kagandahan sa planar, maganda yung imaging (yung positioning ng mga sounds / instruments). HE4XX are a good and affordable entry to the world of planars, that's my go-to planar.

The Porta Pro X are my favorite portable cans.

If you are looking for headphones with a wide soundstage / good spatial awareness, try to look for open back Audio Technica's like ATH-AD700 or ATH-AD900 series. The open back design contributes to that wide soundstage effect but you get a slight loss of bass response. So it would be good for first person shooter games where you are trying to listen for enemy movement or enemy positions. They also sound great for music but don't expect heavy thumping bass.

I have tried the closed back Audio Technica ATH-A900 for games and they are very good in both soundstage and bass but the pads are make of pleather and flake out easily. Also they can be hot to wear for long periods especially on humid days or during the summer. Ngayon ang preference ko is Sennheiser HD600 or yung HifiMan HE400i but in terms of comfort mas madalas ko gamitin ang Sennheisers.

At Php 8K budget, there are not many choices available but try to look for second hand or old stock Sennheiser HD-598's I think those are your best options locally, but could be hard to find (check Daddy J's Audio Boutique for vintage stuff). Meron din 2nd hand Audio Technica's circulating around but can be rare as well. If you are willing to order from abroad, yung Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee should be your target as it is hard to beat for that price. Don't worry about the AMP/DAC muna as you can always buy it later. Another headphone to check out is Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro for Php 8K at Egghead Audiohub.

Not necessarily, depende din sa impedance ng headphones. Some are low impedance and easy to drive from your smartphone or headphone jack from the PC while others sound better with a headphone amplifier. Ang planar / orthodynamic headphones are using different kind of drivers so iba ang sound signature. Most planar headphones need amplification and can be hard to drive, but there are easy to drive planars as well.
